Christian Science is a Christian religion founded by Mary Baker Eddy and based on the words and works of Christ Jesus. It teaches that God is Love, and that understanding God’s love brings moral, spiritual, and physical healing. Our services are centered on the Bible and Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, which together serve as our pastor.
Christian Science is a prayer-based healing process, practiced and studied by individuals around the globe. It can help you as it helps them. Here are some examples of what people in the Raleigh area have said about why they love and appreciate Christian Science
We meet publicly twice a week. We have a Sunday service at 10:30 in the morning. That includes Sunday School classes for people under the age of 20. Then we have a midweek meeting on Wednesday at 12 noon where part of the meeting allows those in the community express their gratitude for healings and other blessings spirituality centered prayer has given them. We also maintain a Reading Room open to the public on Saturdays from 11:00 am until 1:00 PM, and immediately following the Wednesday Testimony meeting, as well as by special appointment. Free Parking for our Church Services and Reading Room. We also sponsor talks and lectures on various subjects addressing spirituality and Christian Science. Additional church activities vary from church to church, and may include Christian Science nursing services, care committees, chaplain services in other facilities, etc. Come see what makes us grateful and happy so much.
We are at 5312 Falls of Neuse Road, Raleigh, North Carolina 27609 is the mailing address and location of our Church and Reading Room.
Prayer is a common practice in many religions and is often used as a way to communicate with a higher power as Christ did, thus effecting a healing of some kind. Also to seek guidance, or express gratitude. It can also be a way to connect with others in a community of faith and to find comfort and support and encouragement during challenging times.
Mary Baker Eddy organized her church "to commemorate the word and works of our Master, which should (1) reinstate primitive Christianity and (2) its lost element of healing.” (From the Church Manual, p. 17. To be an effective prayer-based healer, you must Love in a true Christianly manner and study spiritual prayer-based healing as found in the study of Christian Science.
Mary Baker Eddy (July 16, 1821- December 3, 1910) An American religious leader and author who founded the Church of Christ, Scientist in America in 1879. She was raised in a Puritan home and loved and studied the Bible. Throughout her life, in the 1800's and early 1900's. She questioned conventional views about science, theology, and medicine and of that day and continually searched the Bible for answers. One overarching question she sought to answer was: How was Christ Jesus able to heal the sick? She found the answer in 1866 when she prayed and had a healing from a severe fall. Reading one of Jesus’ healings, she found herself well. Eddy could not explain to others what had happened, but she knew it was the result of what she had read and prayed about in the Bible. Over the next years she continued intensive scriptural study and this led to her discovery that there is a spiritual “science” that underlies the universe, the laws of which can be relied on for healing today as they have been throughout eternity. She became a public speaker, teacher, and bestselling author. She founded a college for teaching Christian Science healing, an international church, and multiple publications, including the award-winning newspaper, The Christian Science Monitor.
Christian Scientists are not forbidden to seek medical care. Each person makes individual healthcare decisions. Many Christian Scientists choose prayer as their first means of care and have experienced healing through a deeper understanding of God’s love and law. We respect the sincere efforts of medical professionals while continuing to bear witness to the healing practice taught and demonstrated by Christ Jesus. Mary Baker Eddy had high regard for the surgeon.
